Our success is turning grouse moors into wild moors

2020: Burning of peat moors banned by major landowners

In a landmark victory for Wild Moors’ campaign to end burning of peat moorlands, major landowners such as Yorkshire Water, United Utilities and the National Trust prohibited their grouse shooting tenants from performing the damaging practice. As a result of this policy shift, over 134,000 acres of peat moorland are now protected.
